Zen is the outcome of sinicization of Indian Buddhism. In the course of combining with Chinese traditional culture, Zen culture has been broadly seeped into every aspect of life and work, such as Chinese ancient philosophy, literature and art, thus becoming an important component of Chinese traditional culture. Being closely connected with aesthetics and arts, Zen culture has exerted a great influence which cant be ignored on peoples lifestyles and aesthetic orientation. This thesis, which is mainly based on Zen culture, discusses the impact of Zen culture on modern design idea, as well as the application of Zen culture in modern design. It emphasizes that Zen culture can exert a positive impact on peoplersquo;s life and work as a countermeasure to modern pressure. 1. Introduction Zen is the faction that lasts the longest time, having influenced most in China Buddhism, and it is the most typical China Buddhism [1]. Zen is the simple name of Sanskrit word 'Dhynan', which means thinking silently, hardly and deeply. The essence of Zen is to achieve balance and harmony of main-body-self and objective world through self-adjustment, thereby realizing mentally detached and silent. Zen keeps affecting and changing the lifestyle of people in its course of sinicization. In the contemporary society, the competition that economic globalization arouses are more an more fierce. Peoples work, life rhythm is more and more quick, and people runs after the original simplicity, quiet life and unadorned living environment. Yearning for this life-style, modern design should design the work implicating Buddhist intention and melts Zen culture thought in the design idea, method and way. 2. Zen Thought Culture Zen culture, in the history of combining with traditional Chinese culture, has widely infiltrated into various areas of the ancient Chinese philosophy, literature, art, creation and life customs, and become an important part of Chinese traditional culture. 2.1 “Mind” Zen Buddha thinks that mind exist all beings hearts, and absolutely do not need to seek outside, so greatly improving the status of the 'heart', 'heart' as the body of everything. Zen ideological emphasize on the present and the 'presence' to experience the usual things, 'heart' as the scale, stressess the acceptance of the objective existence of things in life, and 'Buddha nature'. Zen thinks that people have a space that silences the original Mind. The main objective of Zen is to clear your heart, to return to his original mind, a persistent mind which ha no trouble from outside objects that shakes personal emotional activity and mentality. 2.2 “Insight” Insight means another important thinking of the Zen. 'Directed Conscience', 'epiphany Buddhahood', without long-term practice, that is, their own wisdom, once grasp the true meaning of the Buddhist, you can suddenly realized Buddhahood or not only between the moment [2]. Investigated from the point of view of the way of thinking, the Zen epiphany is an intuitive understanding of methods, without conception, judgment, reasoning, logical thinking, not by virtue of the accumulation of experience and rational analysis of external things, but by virtue of intuition and instant ideas to grasp the understanding of the object, the realm of sublimation. Mr. Suzuki said: 'If no enlightened Zen, as the sun does not like light and heat. Zen can lose it all the literature, all the temples, as well as all of the first line, but which Gordon will exist forever. Epiphany is the Zen way of thinking, the way of thinking of it is both an inspiration and intuitive, but also the natural, social and life caused comprehend the true meaning of the sudden. 2.3 “Do not have characters” Zen subtle and esoteric Buddhism, it is an ultimate truth, the language is difficult to explain and disseminate their moral principles, Emphasis on the heart and heart, heart to heart.
